The Lavotondro “Empreinte” (Imprint) exhibition opened its doors yesterday at La Teinturerie, offering an encounter between traditional visual arts and installation design through the eyes of three Malagasy artists.
Material takes precedence over technology. With Lavotondro “Empreinte,” La Teinturerie offers an immersion into a universe where paintings, sculptures, and installations dialogue to provide a new reading of contemporary Malagasy art. The opening, held yesterday evening and accompanied by an artistic performance by Tarika Sammy, marked the launch of an exhibition that places textures, materials, and spatial arrangement at the heart of creation.
Far from technological devices, Lavotondro “Empreinte” favors a sensitive and immersive approach. Each work integrates into the exhibition space to create a journey where material becomes the primary artistic language. This fusion between traditional visual arts and installation design invites visitors to rediscover the forms, volumes, and imprints left by the artists.
This exhibition brings together three Malagasy artists: Ralf Ariveloo, Loony Stam (Njaka Hanitriniony Randrianarisoa), and Jérémie, whose worlds complement each other to give birth to a collective creation.
A figure of contemporary Malagasy art, Loony Stam is a painter, sculptor, and avant-garde visual artist. Known for his approach inspired by art brut and found objects, he develops a bold style and uses several artistic alter egos to freely explore different forms of expression.
Alongside him, Ralf Ariveloo, a contemporary visual artist, actively contributes to the dynamism of the Antananarivo art scene through his creations. Jérémie completes this exhibition by bringing his perspective and sensitivity to this dialogue between painting, sculpture, and installation.
Through Lavotondro “Empreinte,” the three artists invite the public to reflect on the traces left by artistic creation, while highlighting the richness of materials and the importance of space in the work.
