The Ankoay will make their debut at the boys’ U18 Afrobasket this Wednesday. The Malagasy men’s under-18 national team will face the Gabonese national team in their first match at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Placed in Group B, Madagascar will face strong opposition during this U18 African Championship. Following this opening match against Gabon, the Great Island will take on Morocco on Friday, before concluding the group stage against Mali, the reigning U18 African champions.
Twelve teams are participating in this edition of the U18 Afrobasket, divided into three groups of four. The top two teams from each group will qualify directly for the quarterfinals, while the final two spots will be awarded to the two best third-placed teams across the three groups.
The Ankoay arrived in Abidjan on Monday afternoon. The Malagasy national team will use this time to finalize their preparations before stepping onto the Ivorian court.
