A new world crown. Madagascar is once again the world champion in the junior mixed doubles pétanque category. The Malagasy team, composed of Nomena Ramamonjisoa, Nameno Ramamonjisoa, Clarito Andriambelonony, and Eliot Raberanto, defeated the Spanish team (13-6) in the final of the Junior Pétanque World Championships held in Santa Susana, Spain, from July 30 to August 2. In addition to this title, the Malagasy selection also secured two bronze medals, one in precision shooting and one in mixed triples.
After eliminating Monaco in the round of 16 and Denmark in the quarterfinals, Madagascar dominated Thailand in the mixed doubles semifinals with a score of 13-8. In the final, the Great Island triumphed over the host country, Spain, to retain its world crown. “Madagascar retains its title in mixed doubles for the second consecutive year,” the Malagasy Pétanque Federation proudly stated.
In 2025, the duo of Nathanaël Rasoloson Andriantsivolo and Tafitasoa Mitia Nomenjanahary had already won this world title. These performances confirm the status of Malagasy players as a benchmark in the world of pétanque.
